Barmera's SA Sheepdog Trials will again be held on the June long weekend (Wed to Sun) on the Barmera oval at the bottom of Barwell Ave.
The Sheepdog Trials don't only provide a great public spectacle but also promote a wide human interest in the working sheepdog amongst sheep breeders and the general public and encourage, develop and maintain a high standard of working sheepdog. Roughly starting around 8am until 4pm each day.
Another fun feature of the Barmera trials is the 'running of the sheep' on Saturday morning in the main street of Barmera.

Our aim is to create a family orientated atmosphere for young and old alike where everyone can enjoy a great day's racing. The 600 metre long track is super fast and creates some excellent racing with it’s kidney shape layout providing a long sweeping corner with some tight bends to keep it real.
Members of the public are welcome to come along and enjoy the racing. Bring your family or mates along for good day out. At this stage, entry is free for spectators, but we do charge a gate fee on our BRE days. A pit pass can be purchased for $10 to get up and close to the drivers and their karts. There are canteen facilities and a bar on race days. For most meetings, the racing commences at around 2pm and finishes around 7-8pm. We have lights for night racing. Come along and enjoy the fun!

Hosted by the Marathon Canoe Club of SA since 1988 the Riverland Paddling Marathon (RPM) is not just a marathon it is a festival of paddling marathons with six (6) possible events over 3 days on June Long Weekend in the chilly month of June each year.
Since 1988 on the June Long Weekend paddlers from all over Australia gather on the famous Murray River in South Australia’s beautiful Riverland to meet, greet and most importantly to compete in our paddling events.
The Six events which run consecutively over the weekend include;
- The Murray 200 – a 208 km continuous paddle over 3 days from Berri to Morgan
- The 200 Relay – the same 208 km course from Berri to Morgan but paddled in a relay event.
- The Murray 100 – a 93km course over 3 days covering sections of the longer Berri to Morgan course
- The Murray 50 – a 49km course over 3 days, sharing day 1 and 3 with the Mini-marathon and day 2 with the M100
- Single day paddle – on Sunday of the event weekend, 26km from Devlins Pound to Waikerie
- Mini-marathon – an opportunity to try the event by paddling 11 or 12km on any single day or on multiple days
The RPM is genuinely a fun event with a wide array of craft taking to the river including international craft, recreational canoes & kayaks, surf skis, outriggers, surf boats and sups. The emphasis at the RPM at all times is about participation.
So, if you are up for a challenge lock the date in early and get into action for this year’s Riverland Paddling Marathon.

The Loxton Kart Club is located approximately 8 kilometres out of the township on the Karoonda highway. The Loxton Kart Club prides itself on being a family friendly club, with the priority being fun in karting. We openly welcome all interested people of all ages and gender to come and try this fun affordable form of motor sport.
The track surface itself is a sand/rubble prepared dirt racing circuit, used solely for AIDKA kart racing. Track length is a mere 330 metres, consisting of only 4 turns. But don't let that fool you. Even the most experienced drivers will tell you the Loxton track is a challenging track to get right. The shape and width also allows for passing opportunities at every turn.
